Blacksburg Rugby

Blacksburg made it three wins from three thus far in the 2010 Virginia Rugby Union Men's Division III competition by picking up a 34-12 road victory at Newport News. Despite at five-hour haul, Blacksburg brought intense play to the contest from the first minute. Some errors and indiscretions sapped continuity from the Blacksburg's attack and allowed the hosts to pick up a pair of tries and a conversion, but six tries and a pair of conversions for Blacksburg were enough to get the job done.

In an abbreviated seven-a-side match, the Blacksburg reserves won a nail-biter over their Newport News counterparts by a slim 20-19 margin.

Blacksburg thanks Newport News for an excellent match and thanks referee Les Anderton for his service.

A weekend off awaits Blacksburg before things pick up again with a home match against Virginia Beach on 16 October.
