Blacksburg Rugby

Blacksburg's developmental side will start off the year on Saturday, 5 September, at Noon with a scrimmage match against Virginia Tech's Academy side at Blacksburg's "Rose Garden" oval on Country Club drive near South Main street.

The Blacksburg developmental side consists largely of up-and-coming talents who are still growing accustomed to the sport, particularly a large contingent of new rising stars from the local Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, but will also feature some seasoned players at points during the season. The Virginia Tech Academy represents Virginia Tech at the Collegiate Division III level against a slate of first-grade sides from other schools in the Virginia Rugby Union. (Virginia Tech's first-grade side plays in the Collegiate Division I Mid-Atlantic Premier League.)

Although the scrimmage will not be treated as a fully competitive match, the action will be spirited and and all supporters of rugby in the community are encouraged to attend and enjoy the day.
